SIM Opens First Representative Office In Jakarta
SIM opened a Representative Office (RO) in Jakarta on 10 July 2018, its first in the region to extend its market reach.
The SIM Indonesia RO, provides prospective students and their parents with personal advice and consultation to help them make informed decisions not only about the range of SIM GE programmes on offer but also on studying in Singapore in general.
At the opening ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of SIM Holdings, Dr Lee Kwok Cheong, spoke about the significance of having an RO in Jakarta.
“SIM recognises that education is an important pillar to Indonesia’s further development. Indonesians today face many options for an overseas education and making the right decision may not be an easy one.
“Through the SIM RO, we hope to guide Indonesians on the opportunities for higher education with SIM GE’s partners who are renowned global institutions as well as the benefits of studying in a modern, culturally diverse city like Singapore,” he said.
At the event were Dr Lee Kwok Cheong of SIM Holdings (seventh from left), Ms Chang Yuen Yi, Second Secretary (Political), Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Jakarta (sixth from left), staff of SIM GE as well as corporate and media partners in Indonesia.
To enhance employment opportunities for SIM GE students and graduates from Indonesia, the RO is partnering local and multinational companies to offer internships and management trainee programmes. Partners that have come on board include GO-JEK, GlaxoSmithKline, British American Tobacco, ASEAN Foundation and CPA Australia.
The RO is also looking to help the ever-growing SIM GE alumni body in Indonesia upgrade their knowledge and skills through learning opportunities such as talks, workshops and seminars, so that they can remain relevant and competitive in a fast-changing world.
At the opening, Dr Lee (left) said he hoped for stronger Singapore-Indonesia relations and collaborations
SIM GE has been a popular choice for Indonesian students, with 23% of its international students hailing from Indonesia. This makes them one of the largest groups of foreign students studying at SIM GE.
