Graduates at the recent SIM-University of Birmingham (UoB) Degree Congregation were exhorted to be able, adaptable and employable. The Presiding Officer, Mr Patrick Fang, Member of the SIM Governing Council, stressed the importance of possessing the global edge anchored on the three pillars of Ability, Adaptability and Employability:

1. Ability - the need to possess “cognitive, emotional and social competencies and develop the ability to juggle multiple perspectives and make critical decisions with little or ambiguous information”;

2. Adaptability - the dexterity to “adapt quickly when things don't go as planned” and the resilience to be able to rise above changes and failures and become stronger than before”;

3. Employability - the thirst to constantly “learn new things and develop new competencies and the desire to make a difference” to benefit our community.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Professor Richard Black, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, added that the SIM-UoB graduates are already off to a good start as attested by their employment statistics.

The Birmingham Business School of the University of Birmingham is one of an elite group of business schools that can lay claim to holding the 'triple-crown' accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the Association of MBAs and the European Quality Improvement System.

Some 385 students graduated from 10 programmes including four Master's programmes at the ceremony.
