Maximum allowed period to complete the 12-month programme is 24 months or 2 years. Students may re-apply for the programme if they did not complete the course in the maximum allowed period.

No refund or recourse should the student fail to complete in the maximum period.

 

Curriculum

Structure

  • The online learning mode allows students to take ownership and control over their learning with a learning approach of 100% online delivery (asynchronousand synchronous) to cover the syllabus. In addition, the programmes will still be delivered in the typical full-time structure of three hours X five days per week.
  • The online asynchronous lessons for each module for the programmes require two hours over 12 sessions, a total of 24 hours of self-directed learning. The online synchronous learning support or facilitation sessions also require three hours over 12 sessions and two three-hour online Revision Sessions, totalling 42 hours of online synchronous interaction. Each module comprises a total of scheduled 42 hours (plus 24 hours of self-directed learning) over 14 sessions of interaction time. To complete the programme, students need to go through 15 modules, in total, 630 hours of lessons

Assessment & Attendance

  • Each module is assessed through multiple continuous assessments.
  • Continuous assessments may include practical assessment, class tests, discussions, presentations, group, and individual assignments.
  • To attain a pass for each module, students must achieve overall minimum GPA of 1.0 (grade D).
  • Attendance requirement: 75%

Requirements to Graduate

Students must successfully complete and pass all 8 modules. Graduating students will be awarded with a Diploma from SIM.

Admission Criteria

Accepted Entry Qualifications

  • GCE A-level, IB diploma, or other equivalent pre-university certifications, or
  • Polytechnic diploma or equivalent, or
  • SIM GE’s foundation programme, namely, Information Technology Foundation Studies (ITFS)

Applicants who do not meet the direct academic entry requirement are required to complete the International Technology Foundation Studies (ITFS) programme.  

Equivalent International Qualifications

International applicants will be assessed on the qualification’s equivalent to the GCE ‘A’ level examinations. For information on international qualifications, refer to SIM’s International Student Prospectus.

English Language Requirements

  • GCE ‘O’ level credit pass (Grade 1 to 6) in English (as a first language); or 
  • IELTS with an overall score of at least 5.5; or 
  • TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) plus 4 in the Test of Written English (TWE) or 59 (iBT); or 
  • An equivalent English language qualification. 

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement would need to undergo the Certificate in English Language (CEL) programme before enrolment in the Diploma programme.

The duration of the CEL programme depends on the applicant’s English language proficiency level.

Applicants can sit for an English Placement Test conducted by SIM to determine their English language proficiency level.

Notes:

  • IELTS or TOEFL scores must be less than two years at point of enrolment.
  • The SIM English Placement Test results will be valid for one year from the date of the test.

Fees & Financial Aid 

Payment to SIM can be made through SIMConnect using Credit Card (Visa or Master), PayNow, eNETS, OCBC Interest-free Instalment Plan (min. S$500) and cheques.
 

Programme Fees 

International students who are not residing in Singapore 

  • Total Programme Fees: $14,800.00
  • Per module: $1,850.00

For students residing in Singapore 

  • Total Programme Fees: $16,620.00 (inclusive of 9% GST)
  • Per module: $2,016.50 (inclusive of 9% GST)

 

Mandatory Fees 

All fees inclusive of prevailing GST.

Student Development Fee

Applicable to all students embarking on a full-time Diploma or Undergraduate programme at SIM. This fee goes towards activities that will help in students’ personal growth and equip them with functional skills that enhance their employability.

Application Fee

Payable for each application form that is submitted. Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. The fee will be refunded fully only if the intake does not commence. Unpaid applications will not be processed.

Applicant not residing in Singapore: S$100.00

Applicant residing in Singapore: S$109.00 (inclusive of 9% GST)
