Future Designers Take Centre Stage at SIM-RMIT's CTRL/ALT Assembly 2026 Graduation Show 

Students Showcase Creativity and Industry Readiness at CTRL/ALT Assembly 2026  



Creativity, collaboration and innovation took centre stage at the SIM-RMIT Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) Graduation Show 2026, CTRL/ALT Assembly, as 52 graduating students celebrated the culmination of their academic journey and demonstrated their readiness to enter the creative industry. 

More than a showcase of final-year projects, CTRL/ALT Assembly reflected the programme's emphasis on experiential learning. The graduating cohort took full ownership of planning and delivering the event, from developing its identity and designing the physical and online exhibition experience to securing sponsorships and leading marketing and communications efforts. Through this immersive experience, students strengthened their project management, teamwork and professional practice alongside their design capabilities. 

A Platform for Creative Excellence 

The exhibition featured a diverse collection of final-year projects that demonstrated the graduates' creative thinking, technical expertise and problem-solving abilities developed throughout the one-year degree programme. 

Family members, friends, lecturers, alumni and industry professionals explored the exhibition, engaged directly with students and gained insights into the creative processes behind each project. The event provided graduates with an opportunity to present their work, receive feedback and build meaningful connections with the wider design community. 

Adding further value to the programme were industry sharing sessions led by accomplished design professionals. The event welcomed Regine Abos, RMIT Program Coordinator, as Guest of Honour, alongside guest speakers Natalie Seisser, Founder and Design Director of anewkind; Morgan Williams, Service Designer and RMIT Lecturer; and Fazzy Ja'afar, Senior UX Designer and SIM Associate Lecturer. Their presentations offered valuable perspectives on emerging industry trends, professional practice and career development in an evolving design landscape. 

Recognising Outstanding Achievement 

One of the highlights of the evening was the Student Awards Ceremony, which recognised exceptional final-year projects through the presentation of the Best Concept Award, Best Execution Award and Best Storytelling Award. The awards celebrated students whose work demonstrated outstanding creativity, innovation and excellence following months of research, refinement and mentorship from the programme's academic team. 



Building Connections Through Design 

Beyond celebrating academic achievement, CTRL/ALT Assembly underscored the importance of community, collaboration and meaningful connections. Throughout the exhibition, graduates shared the stories behind their projects, exchanged ideas with visitors and reflected on the experiences that had shaped them as emerging designers. 

Graduate Aisyah Zharifah Krisna Putri said the event demonstrated the power of design to bring people together. 

"The highlight of the Graduation Show was the human connection between lecturers, students, friends and visitors. It was a space for conversations about our projects and future plans. Sharing my work helped me recognise both my strengths and areas for improvement, while reminding me how supportive our cohort is. My biggest takeaway is simple: don't be afraid to start a conversation. Even a small one can lead to new connections and confidence." 

For Teo Huihan Hannah, organising the exhibition alongside her classmates was just as rewarding as presenting her own work. 

"Collaborating closely with the physical exhibition team to bring the gallery space to life was incredibly rewarding. Seeing the overwhelming support from families and loved ones showed me that the future of design is in passionate hands. While receiving the Best Concept Award was an honour, my greatest takeaway was the joy of sharing my project and witnessing peers and visitors unite through creativity." 

The graduation show also featured interactive experiences that encouraged visitors to engage with the exhibition and celebrate alongside the graduates, creating a vibrant and memorable atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the design community. 



Looking Ahead 

As the graduating cohort embarks on the next stage of their professional journeys, CTRL/ALT Assembly stands as a celebration of their achievements and the creativity, resilience and practical skills they have developed throughout their studies.
