Curriculum

Structure

  • Comprise nine taught modules (of two core modules, four optional core modules and three electives) and an MSc dissertation, totalling to 180 credits.
    • Taught modules – 90 credits
    • MSc Dissertation – 90 credits
  • Delivered on a modular basis at SIM campus, every module is approximately made up of 40 contact hours.
  •  All learning resources are accessible online by participants to support study and research on their personal computers for in-class coursework and dissertation.
  • Fully taught by faculty from WMG, University of Warwick, ensuring the same academic input for the Singapore programme.

  • Average Teacher-Participant Ratio – 1:35
  • Exemptions: Nil  
  • Minimum Class Size: 20 participants to commence. If the class fails to commence due to low take-up rate, participants will be informed within one month before programme commencement with the refund of application fee.
  • Face-to-face Delivery: Generally held in classes on SIM campus unless otherwise stated.

 
Full-time
Participants will be offered modules based on the first 9 modules commencing from the start of the programme. Typically, modules are delivered intensively over five full days in the day and for some modules, over week nights and full day on weekends – in sessions of 3 to 9 hours usually over 1 week or 2 weekends.

Part-time
Modules are delivered typically in January, March, May, July, September and November, usually 3 hours on weekdays and 9 hours on weekends. Generally, participants may choose from the modules offered at SIM during the candidature period. However, it is recommended of participants to complete modules in the first eighteen months and focus on dissertation in the remaining six months.

Assessment & Attendance

  • 100% attendance rate
  • Participants will be assessed by coursework – the application of concepts and tools to solve company problems. Coursework can take various forms such as written assignment, project, presentation etc. The assessments are subject to change by the University and some coursework may be group-based.
  • Participants will progress through each module upon completion of its coursework.

Requirements to Graduate

To attain the Master of Science in Programme and Project Management, participants must successfully complete the coursework of nine modules, an MSc Dissertation and meet the conferral requirements of the programme.

The degree awarded and the degree certificate will be the same as that awarded in the UK.

A degree congregation ceremony presided by the University of Warwick is normally held once every two years at SIM HQ. Alternatively, graduates may choose to attend the degree congregation in January or July in the UK.

Participants will work on a genuine business issue for their MSc dissertation, guided by industrialists and academic supervisors, in compliance with the University’s guidelines and standards. All dissertation consultations and submission must be conducted during the candidature period.

On completion, dissertations will be moderated by a senior member of the University and participants are required to conduct an oral presentation on their dissertation topic.

Note: Students are required to own a laptop equipped with at least Microsoft Windows 10 or Apple MacOS Catalina (10.15) and 8GB RAM (recommended).

Admission Criteria

Accepted Entry Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (UK Upper 2nd Class Honours degree or its equivalent) or
  • Bachelor’s degree (UK Lower 2nd Class Honours degree or its equivalent) with at least two years of relevant post-qualification professional experience; or  
  • Successful completion of WMG’s relevant Postgraduate Award; or  
  • Successful completion of SIM Graduate Diploma Programme; or
  • Mature candidates (at least 30 years old) with a Singapore Local Polytechnic Diploma and at least eight years of relevant work experience.

Candidates with other qualifications can be assessed on individual merit.

Applicants who have a work permit or employment pass can be considered for admission to part-time study.

English Language Requirements

A Secure English Language Test (SELT) is required as proof of English Language Proficiency. This test must have been conducted within 2 years of the formal start date for the programme.

  • IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 6.0 in each band); or
  • TOEFL 92 (iBT) overall with scores in listening=21, speaking=23, reading=22 and writing=21; or  
  • Pearson Test in English (Academic) with a minimum score of 62 (with at least 59 in each of the four component scores);

Applicants whose entry qualification was attained in Singapore or other English Speaking Country (as defined by UKVI) in the last two years with at least two years of study in an English medium institution are exempted from English Proficiency Requirement.

Applicants who have worked in an international company for at least the last two years where English is the day-to-day language of business may be exempted from the English Proficiency Requirement based on written company evidence of their proficiency in the use of English for Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing on a daily basis.

Other Requirements

  • Two satisfactory academic/industrial referees, and
  • A letter of academic interest and objective in undertaking postgraduate study

An interview by the Programme Director and / or Programme Faculty may be required as part of the admission process.

Fees & Financial Aid

All fees are inclusive of prevailing GST for the intakes in 2022 and are payable before term/module commencement (exclude textbooks).

Payment to SIM can be made through SIMConnect using Credit Card (Visa or Master), PayNow, eNETS, OCBC Interest-free Instalment Plan (min. S$500) and cheques.

Programme Fees

Full-time: Fees are payable over three instalments in April, October, and January. Per instalment payable is based on the number of modules taken in each term.

International Student Induction Fee 

A one-time fee payable by new full-time international students. This fee covers pre-arrival and arrival support, including activities to enhance the international student learning experience. 

As applicable, this is payable with the programme fee’s first instalment.

Payable for each application form that is submitted. Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. The fee will be refunded fully only if the intake does not commence. Unpaid applications will not be processed.
