Celebrate 40 years of academic excellence and partnership between the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and the University of London (UoL). Held at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering Singapore, the vibrant anniversary luncheon brought together distinguished guests, alumni, and partners to honour four decades of globally recognised education, share inspiring reflections, and unveil a brand-new scholarship for future generations.

2026 marks 40 years of partnership between the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and the University of London (UoL), a milestone celebrating four decades of shared achievement and academic excellence. The anniversary year commenced with a vibrant anniversary luncheon held on 17 April at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering Singapore.

This occasion brought together distinguished guests, including partners, embassy representatives, school counsellors, professional bodies, alumni, and donors, to celebrate four decades of globally recognised education that has shaped countless journeys. It was a meaningful moment to honour how far the collaboration has come and the impact it continues to create.

The luncheon was filled with warmth and vibrant energy as guests reconnected and reminisced. The event began on a high note with a specially curated commemorative video presentation by UoL, showcasing the enduring legacy of these 40 years. After the video, the programme continued with opening remarks by Professor Jorg Bley, Provost of SIM Global Education. He reflected on the four-decade journey, highlighting a shared belief that education goes beyond knowledge to create possibilities, empowering individuals to rise above their circumstances and contribute meaningfully to society.

Echoing this, Professor Phil Allmendinger, UoL’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), reaffirmed a common vision of accessible, transformative education that opens doors to careers, new ways of thinking, and new possibilities. Together, SIM and UoL remain well-positioned to continue evolving, innovating, and ensuring that education remains relevant and impactful for future generations.

Bringing this vision to life, alumni Alex Chan (Class of 1996) and CEO of Videospace, shared how his experience shaped his career: “Reflecting on my time as a SIM student, I gained a ‘superpower’: the ability to ask the right questions. SIM–UoL fosters a safe, curious environment where ideas are challenged, and questions are valued as much as answers.”

Looking ahead, Professor Emma McCoy, Vice President and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), announced a £40,000 LSE-SIM 40th Anniversary Scholarship to be disbursed over four years to recognise high-achieving SIM students, reinforcing a continued commitment to nurturing future generations.

Highlights of the afternoon included a symbolic gift exchange, a celebratory toast, and a cake-cutting ceremony, underscoring the significance of this 40-year milestone.

Ms Euleen Goh, Chairperson of SIM Group, with Professor Phil Allmendinger, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) of the UoL- SIM presented a polished copper plaque featuring a finely embossed outline of the SIM Campus along Clementi Road to commemorate 40 years of partnership, while Professor Allmendinger presented Ms Goh with a bespoke calligraphy artwork symbolising the enduring values of learning and wisdom shared by both institutions.
