The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science degree is a flagship course of Cardiff University’s School of Computer Science and Informatics. Curriculum

Structure

  • Weekly schedule: Between Monday and Friday at three or six hours per session. Saturday classes may occasionally be scheduled if required
  • Class timing: 8.30am / 12.00pm / 3.30pm, held on SIM campus unless otherwise stated
  • Minimum class size to commence: 30 students
    If the class fails to commence due to low take-up rate, applicants will be informed within one month before programme commencement with the refund of application fee.

Assessment & Attendance

  • Assessments: Coursework*, written exams or a combination of both.
  • Capstone Case in International Business
    • To complete extensive analysis for an international project and to develop a business plan for a product or service in a new market 
  • Attendance requirement:
    • Local students – 75%
    • International students – 90%

 

*Coursework includes written assignments, class tests, group or individual presentations/projects, etc.

Requirements to Graduate

To attain the Bachelor in International Business, students must successfully complete the programme and meet its conferral requirements.

For BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, students are required to choose a combination of optional modules in order to attain the 120 credits required for Year 3.

  • Students are required to own a laptop equipped with at least Microsoft Windows 10 or Apple MacOS Catalina (10.15) and 8GB RAM (recommended).

Admission Criteria

Accepted Entry Qualifications

  • SIM Diploma in Information Technology; or 
  • Relevant Information Technology diplomas from local polytechnics 

All other qualifications shall be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to interview. 

English Language Requirements

  • Minimum C6 pass in English as First Language at GCE 'O' Level; or 
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall with minimum of 5.5 in each subskill; or 
  • TOEFL score of 90 overall with a minimum of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking; or 
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): At least 69 overall with a minimum of 59 in all communicative skills; or 
  • Successful completion of Part 2 of SIM Pre-Sessional English course (PSEC); or 
  • Successful completion of a recognised approved Diploma, where the language of instruction was English; or 
  • Equivalent

Student Development Fee

Applicable to all students embarking on a full-time Diploma or Undergraduate programme at SIM. This fee goes towards activities that will help in students’ personal growth and equip them with functional skills that enhance their employability.

A one-time fee payable by new full-time international students. This fee covers pre-arrival and arrival support, including activities to enhance the international student learning experience.
