3 Interesting CCAs To Check Out In SIM

When you first enrol in university, three years may sound like a lifetime but it can all pass in a blink of an eye if you have many memories to cherish. Beyond graduation with just degrees in hand, some students leave university with changed perspectives and invaluable experiences that they have gained from being part of a student club. We speak to three students who share how their CCAs have impacted their lives, giving them a one-of-a kind university experience!

SIM iCare
About: SIM iCare is formed by a group of like-minded students who desire to see a social transformation through social activities such as community service and volunteer work in the hope to transform lives through acts of kindness.





Celebrating Christmas with the elderly from Sunshine Welfare Action Mission (SWAMI Home) and Friendship and Mind Enrichment (FAME Club) Bethesda Care Centre whom we work closely with.

The great thing about this Club is that it promotes the spirit of volunteerism. I believe one of the best things about this club is that you get to work alongside a group of like-minded friends and this experience is always very positive and enriching. We always feel a great sense of satisfaction from seeing several mini milestones come to past for each event that is planned. Putting smiles on the faces of beneficiaries is also indeed an irreplaceable feeling. These inspiring experiences have motivated me to take up the role of President of the club. It has also led me to ponder about the prevalent underlying social judgements and sparked my interest to change society's mindset on mental health.

SIM Outdoor Adventure Club (SIM ODAC)
About: SIM ODAC seeks to create opportunities for young leaders to discover, and secure an adventure of high quality through comprehensive outdoor adventure. It helps members develop a better physical health and well-being through an active outdoor lifestyle and at the same time provide new and unique experiences that build community.


What's cool about SIM ODAC is that it has something for everyone because the club is split into Land, Sea and Rock Climbing groups. It is perfect for people who love the outdoors and want to try a bit of both land and sea sports.

Occasionally, we'll have interschool friendly competition with other institutions like NUS.

Being in SIM ODAC gave me the opportunity to be one of the core planners for SIM Vertigo, a nation-wide competition. It was a challenging yet fulfilling experience working with fantastic individuals from different industries. At the end of it, I felt more confident in my abilities because we managed to pull off something that seemed impossible at first. Participating in such outdoor activities, require a lot of focus and determination. When faced with obstacles while climbing, I have learned to build stronger resilience. My experiences at the club gives me the confidence to aim for bigger goals in life and not to give up so easily. It also gives me the motivation to strive for greater heights like organising events for the club on an international scale.

SIM Investment & Networking Club (SIM INC)
About: SIM INC aims to be a renowned investment club that nurtures students to be proficient in making wise investment decisions, promotes financial literacy and provides a platform for networking opportunities.


SIM INC ‘s activities and connections largely resemble the internal workings of a corporation to prepare our members for the corporate world. We aim to attain a level of excellence in all that we do.


We organise events like the Youth Financial Symposium where we invite esteemed industry practitioners to share about trends like the current Market Outlook.


Trading & Research Boot Camp where the EXCOS share their knowledge in forex trading.

At INC, we are exposed to Forex Trading Systems at SIM's own Financial Training Centre. It's an invigorating experience to view the Forex Market and apply our trading strategies in real time. The fast-paced nature of the market quickened my decision making and enhanced my analytical skills - all this while maintaining my composure. I believe these skills that I have acquired gives me an important edge by increasing my competency before stepping out into the working world.
