The Master of Science (MSc) in Accounting and Financial Management is the result of a close partnership between The University of London and School of Management at University College London.

This programme provides those with non-finance qualifications the opportunity to develop and apply Master's level knowledge, understanding and skills within the accounting, financial management and strategic context for business and management. It enables students to engage with and contribute meaningfully to financial decision making within their current or future organisation.

Every manager needs to have knowledge of finance in order to contribute to the overall success of the organisation. Whether you are training in building estate management, a civil engineer, or scientist in biotechnology, you need to help your boss make the right decisions. The MSc Accounting and Financial Management will teach you all you need to know to be an effective manager or director. It is a management master's with a focus on finance.

  • Duration of each lesson is typically 3 hours.

A Bachelor's degree at least comparable to a UK Upper Second class honours degree from an institution acceptable to the university, AND
 

A pass in English language at GCE 'O' Level. Alternatively, applicants may provide an acceptable score in a Test of Proficiency achieved within the past three years. E.g. IELTS: At least an overall of 6.5 with 6.0 in the written test.

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement for admission may enroll in the Pre-Sessional English Course (PSEC) conducted and awarded by the Singapore Institute of Management.
 

Pre-sessional English Course (if applicable)

Developed and awarded by SIM, Singapore.

Part Two Only

Applicants who have not reached the required IELTS English Language proficiency level or equivalent shall have to complete and pass a Pre-Sessional English Course before progressing to any of the MSc programmes. The course is developed and awarded by SIM, Singapore.

This full-time course aims to improve all four Academic English Language skills in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing to the required proficiency level for entry to the respective MSc programmes.

Part Two Structure

  • Duration & Intake: Full-time, 8 weeks commencing in Jul 2025 to end-Aug 2025
  • Admission Requirement:
    • IELTS 6.0 - No less than 5.0 (no less than 5.0 in all four skills)
    • TOEFL iBT 60 - No less than 17 in any band
    • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE-A) - A minimum of 51.60 in all four skills
    • Duolingo (DET) - Minimum 95
  • To attain Language Proficiency of: IELTS 6.5

Structure

  • Mode of delivery: Lessons will be delivered via blended learning with a combination of face-to-face lectures and e-learning components.
  • Class duration: Typically 6 hours on weekdays. Some lessons may also take place on Saturdays if required.
  • Assessments: Continuous assessments include in-class tests, individual / group assignments, online quizzes etc. There are no re-assessments.
  • Average teacher-student ratio – 1:30

  • Minimum class size to commence – 25
    If the class fails to commence due to low take-up rate, students will be informed at least 1 week before programme commencement with a refund of application fee.
  • Attendance requirement:
    • Local students – at least 75% 
    • International students – at least 90% 

Certification

A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful passing of Part Two of the Preparatory Course. There will not be any refund or recourse should students fail to complete the course within the specified duration.
