The aims of the Graduate Certificate in Digital Marketing (GCDM) programme are to:

  1. Apply various data driven techniques to analyse real-world business opportunities and use appropriate tools to carry out market research and consumer segmentation.
  2. Develop digital marketing strategies to create an effective online presence and engagements.
  3. Discuss the various cases of data privacy breaches and provide students with practical hands-on practice on protecting data privacy.

Teaching Faculty

Lecturers are both academic and industry-based professionals with work experience and knowledge in their domain.

Delivery Mode

Programme is to be conducted 100% online for 30 hours over six sessions, with five hours per session.

Each online session comprises of one hour synchronous online teaching, lectures to present key concepts and principles to students AND four hours synchronous online individual and group activities.

A variety of teaching methods and approaches would be adopted with the aim of enhancing students’ learning. Instructions will mainly take the form of lectures, discussions and interactive presentations.

Additional classes and workshops provided to teach study skills, academic writing and presentation.

Curriculum

8-month part-time programme (4 semesters) of 4 modules

Students are required to complete all compulsory modules

  • Customer Behaviour and Analytics
  • Data Privacy, Data Ethics and Governance
  • Marketing in a Digital World

Students are required to complete 1 module from the electives listed below

  • Data Visualisation
  • Emerging Technologies
  • People, Organisations and Teamwork
  • Principles of Programming (R and Python)

Each lesson: 1 hour online teaching and 4 hours of individual and group activities

Candidature Period

Maximum allowed period to complete: 16 months

No refund or recourse should the student fail to complete in the maximum period.

SIM reserves the right to recommend and withdraw a student who cannot cope with the demands of the programme.

Minimum Class Size

Minimum class size: 10 students. Students will be informed within 30 days before class commences.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must satisfy both the academic requirement and English Language proficiency as follows:

1) Academic Qualifications

  • A degree from a recognised university; or
  • Candidates (30 years old and above) who are Diploma holders or hold equivalent qualifications with a minimum of 8 years of working experience.

2) English Language Proficiency

Applicants whose academic qualifications are not attained in the English medium are required to demonstrate proficiency in English with the minimum total score indicated below:

  • IELTS 6.0; or
  • Paper-based TOEFL 570; or
  • Internet-based TOEFL 88


Note: TOEFL or IELTS test scores must be less than 2 years at the point of enrolment.

Assessment & Exams

SIM GE’s philosophy is to assess students on a continuous basis throughout the module. In general, the assessment methods include, but are not limited to:

(a) students’ assignments and projects: on an individual or group basis;
(b) project reports and presentations;
(c) case study analysis;
(d) self-reflections;
(e) peer evaluation; and
(f) class exercises.

Every module will come with an individual written assessment at the end of the module.

Promotion

Progression through the programme is governed by the SIM examination rules. Students will be assessed based on their attendance and participation in all activities conducted and are required to complete all assessments for the modules undertaken by them. Students are allowed only one repeat attempt for one assessment per module.

Attendance requirement

This is an intensive part-time programme. All students are encouraged to attain a minimum attendance rate of 75%.

Graduation

Graduating students who passed all modules will be issued a transcript and awarded with a Graduate Certificate from SIM upon graduation.
