HOW do you play ?

Each ‘company’ will ‘manufacture’ two products and sell them in a number of ‘ markets’. In each of the four financial years, your company has to decide on the production quantity of each product and its selling price. Decisions must also be made on marketing and finance (including cash allocation and research and development). The development of the ‘markets’ will depend on the actual decisions made by other competitors playing in the ‘market’. To help you make subsequent decisions, you will receive reports on your company’s performance at the end of each financial year.

This competition is played on a knock-out basis over three rounds. The Qualifying Round and Semi-Finals will be played over two weeks via the web with decisions submitted online. The Finals will be played, web-based ‘live’ at SIM.

TAKE part – You have Nothing To Lose!

It’s a computer-simulated environment. You lose nothing but gain plenty! Throughout the competition, you will gain experience in managing a ‘company’, sharpen and practise your skills in:

reading and interpreting business reports correctly and perceptively
analysing and using information for effective decision-making
making projections on the key interactions of decisions about functional components
anticipating, evaluating and managing different competitive factors
planning and forecasting effectively
developing leadership and teamwork
