My October .

October is always a busy month for me. There're 4 important birthdays, on top of the usual gatherings with friends. I am not complaining though. Not yet, anyway.

So, I’m going to blog about 4 events which happened last month. They’re quite random and I guess you can call them a “photo spam”.  Pardon me, because I really don’t have much good material right now. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy this entry as much as I have enjoyed making it.

Firstly, there was an interesting outing at Botanical Gardens with the young adults from church. It was held during the exams period (for most people that is, since UOL students only have ONE major exam, which is in the middle of the year.) and one of its main purpose was supposedly to just let us unwind. However, to our delight, we also happened to have international visitors from the Doulos crew while their 95-year-old ship was under maintenance (for about a month) at the dry dock.

They are Mei Er from Hong Kong, and Doris from Germany.

This is Riana from South Africa.

Also from the Doulos Crew is Ma Qian(girl in white cap) from Xi’an, China.

Back of Daryl (the guy who organised this)’s shirt, also the story of our lives.

This is me, glad to have finally passed on the bottle to someone else in a game. ( to a girl whose name happens to be Gladys)
------------

Secondly, I met up with 2 of my close pals, Daph and Sol, at Sol’s house. Daph and I were supposed to visit Sol for Hari Raya, but we couldn’t seem to fix a date. The next thing we knew, Hari Raya was over. This meet-up wasn’t very Hari Raya-ish, but the food was.

Sol is tall.

Pretty.

With the right company, the most mundane chore of setting the dinner table becomes... interesting.
P.S. The Bee Hoon was unbelievably delicious!

After dinner, we spent the night playing Rock Band on Sol’s X-Box. Fun!
------------

Then, there was Grandpa’s 83rd birthday. It’s always nice to catch up with some relatives, especially the cousins.

Here are the busy ladies in the kitchen.

This might just be the highlight of the day.

This is the wonderful uncle who cooked the shark’s fin soup.
We are very close and always do the “Soul Brother Handshake” whenever we meet. When he was younger, he was a dead ringer for Keanu Reeves.

They are my mom and my grandma. No amount of cheesy description can do justice to how truly beautiful they are. Grandma used to teach me nursery rhymes in Cantonese, but I can barely speak that dialect now.

Grandpa loved to stuff durian flesh into my mouth when I was a baby just to watch me throw up. Haha...

I love my gramp.

Lastly, I’m gonna share about a class reunion with my primary school classmates. It was the first outing we had in 8 years, so naturally we didn’t manage to get a lot of people to come.  What a pity! For those who came, I was very glad to see their faces again.

Hey, it’s Daph again. We were classmates in kindergarten and primary school. Later, we went on to different secondary schools and junior college/ polytechnic, but continued to keep in close contact. The exciting part is that we’re finally schoolmates again in SIM-UOL. She’s pursuing a degree in Business.
She’s also the woman who organised this reunion!

This is us playing pool to while time away as we waited for a bowling alley to be available. Look at the girls folding their arms, leaning against the wall and looking all uninterested!

When there was finally one alley available, we realised that we would rather talk more than anything else.

Guy in black is actually also my neighbour.

His comment on this outing, “I thought neighbours aren’t supposed to hang out.”

It was a little late when we were done with bowling but my neighbour said we could go to his home.
The girl 2nd from left is a fellow Year 2 SIM-UOL student too.

We weren’t on Facebook prying into others’ affairs. We were looking at this blog, really.

We sat together to reminisce and share some bedtime stories till about 2am.

Thank you for reading!
