On 19 June 2017, SIM-University of London (UOL) graduates Anders Lee (Banking and Finance) and Lim Chia Wei (Economics and Finance) became the inaugural recipients of the UOL Masters Scholarships given out by the UOL-SIM Regional Centre.
The Centre, which was launched earlier this year, offers two scholarships annually to SIM GE graduates accepted to a master’s programme at any of the UOL Member Institutions.
Mike Winter OBE, Director of Global Engagement, UOL International Programmes, said, “The scholarships are part of a series of initiatives that the University of London and SIM Global Education are undertaking jointly to heighten their engagement, and to build a stronger presence in Singapore and Southeast Asia through the recently established UOL-SIM Regional Centre.”
Anders, who had also received the UOL Award for Academic Achievement in 2009, shared, “It has taken the financial burden off my shoulders so I can focus solely on making the most of my overseas postgraduate experience and interacting with like-minded people.”
Chia Wei, an international student from Malaysia, wants to pursue a career in quantitative trading. “Apart from a large chunk of the cost for my studies being defrayed, being offered this scholarship will be an added advantage when I make my job applications in the future,” he said.
