Twenty-four graduates were presented with their Masters degree scrolls for the Engineering Business Management as well as the Supply Chain and Logistics Management programmes at the SIM – University of Warwick Graduation Ceremony on 29 September 2017.
Addressing the graduates, Dr Lee Kwok Cheong, Chief Executive Officer of SIM Global Education, asked them to train their ‘resilience muscles’ so as to increase their AQ or Adversity Quotient. He said, “Your AQ is a critical success factor in your life, as is your IQ and EQ, if you define success to include the difference you can make to others, and your own happiness.” Dr Lee cautioned of many bad things that life can throw at them and called on them to invest in their relationships, to have faith, be appreciative and be in the moment.
Valedictorian Zachery Tan recounted the struggles he and his fellow classmates faced in having to juggle studies, work and family. He too shared about the importance of being resilient, be it to complete the arduous but fulfilling journey of attaining a Masters degree or going further in life.
Valedictorian Zachery Tan quoting Theodore Roosevelt: It is only through labour and painful effort,
by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.
