SIM-UOW graduates told to have integrity, a career air bubble

23 Apr 2019

In his address as Guest-of-Honour at the SIM-University of Wollongong (UOW) graduation ceremony on 10th April 2019, Mr Saw Ken Wye (Chairman, SGTech and Chief Executive Officer, CrimsonLogic Pte Ltd) urged his young audience to lead a life of integrity as they build their career.

Using the analogy of making ceramics out of clay, he had this to say: “…sometimes when you build a sculpture or something, if there is an air bubble and you fire it, that whole piece will shatter. An innocent air bubble can shatter a ceramic piece. So likewise, look out for the air bubble and air bubble here in your career is integrity. You really need to keep that front and centre. If people can’t trust you, there goes the end of your career. Do the right thing. Don’t take short cuts.”

Mr Chia Wee Boon, Member of SIM Governing Council and CEO of NCS Pte Ltd, also addressed the graduands. He advised the UOW graduates to keep learning and developing themselves in order to be employable, be open to new situations, be resilient in the face of adversity, and be counted by living a life of purpose for the common good.

Graduation is finally here! It’s time to celebrate the achievements as our award winners pose for a photo with Mr Saw and senior management from SIM GE and UOW.

More than 350 students received their degree scrolls from diverse fields ranging from IT to psychology. This year, SIM and UOW mark 14 years of partnership which has produced a total of more than 3700 graduates.
