SIM-UOL Lecture series: Beyond physical cash, how the world is blockchain-ging

SIM Global Education (SIM GE) and University of London (UOL) kicked off the inaugural SIM-UOL Lecture series in 2019 on 4th April at the SIM Performing Arts Theatre.  The keynote lecture by UOL's Professor Robert Zimmer, Head of the Computing Department at Goldsmiths, UOL offered insights on how blockchain technology is applied across industries, emphasising its importance in the era of digital technology.

finance and healthcare, engineering and legal as well as the public sector and academia.

 
Following the lecture, a panel discussion was held comprising industry practitioners Mr Khoong Hock Yun, Senior Advisor at Tembusu Partners; Mr Liang Yansui, Chief Technology Officer at OneConnect Singapore; and Professor Zimmer and moderated by Dr Lillian Koh, Chief Executive Officer of Fintech Academy. The panel addressed questions ranging from cryptocurrencies and tangible applications of blockchain technology to security and precautionary measures in specific industries.

The lecture was held in conjunction with the launch of the Master of Science in Data Science, with specialisations in artificial intelligence and financial technology. The course is offered by Goldsmiths, UOL at SIM GE.  Additionally, students in this programme will receive the globally recognised Microsoft Professional Programme certification validating technical expertise and professional experience in the area of data science.
