SIM Professional Development and one of its corporate partners, Pure & Good Management Pte Ltd, held their inaugural masterclass series in April to equip Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) owners and entrepreneurs with business insights to ride on the opportunities of the growing halal sector.
The one-day class attracted about 70 local and international participants including some from Turkey, Myanmar, South Korea and Malaysia.
At the event, local and regional experts shared with participants, topics ranging from Islamic financing to the halal eco-system and food safety.
Prof Irwandi shared that a new technology called the Electronic Nose (E-Nose) instrument can help to detect the presence of haram (‘forbidden’) or unsafe ingredients.
The event is the first collaboration between SIM PD and Pure & Good Management (a supply chain integrator focusing on halal products & services) following a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year, to build leadership competencies for the global halal industry through management programmes and networking sessions. The next masterclass is in the pipeline and will include relevant topics such as risk management and data analytics.
