Platform E, the Singapore Institute of Management’s entrepreneurship centre, has announced that Chief Executive Officer Alan Wong has stepped down from the position to pursue personal interests.
Platform E is a comprehensive entrepreneurship ecosystem that combines the multiple facets of training and education of entrepreneurs, go-to-market acceleration of start-ups, community support as well as a co-working space. As part of its efforts to sharpen its focus and further grow each of these areas, its Board of Directors has announced two new appointments effective 1 February 2018, both of which roles report to the Board.
The Board has appointed Rina Neoh as Managing Partner of Platform E to oversee its accelerator component, co-working space as well as its angel investor network, SIM Fx. An experienced entrepreneur and angel investor, Rina brings more than 20 years of experience in incubating and funding early stage businesses and scaling up successful start-ups in South-East Asia.
Rina is a co-founder and partner of Singapore-based incubator and venture accelerator Mercatus Capital and was recognised as among the Top 10 Most Inspiring Businesswomen in Singapore by Top 10 of Asia
magazine in 2013.
Heading Platform E’s education and training will be Wong Kee Meng, who joined Platform E in mid-2017. Kee Meng has more than 18 years of experience in the telecommunications and corporate fields, having held senior positions in Verizon and Cable & Wireless.
As Head of Education, Kee Meng will tap on his business and management experience and extensive networks to grow Platform E’s flagship entrepreneurship programmes – the 12-month IntensE and modular IncubatE programmes – as well as explore other new tracks to meet the needs of local and regional entrepreneurs.
The Board expressed appreciation for Alan’s contributions in laying a strong foundation for Platform E and said it is confident that Kee Meng and Rina’s wealth of experience in business, entrepreneurship and angel investing will serve Platform E well as it expands its training tracks and reach into the realm of investor education both locally and regionally. The new appointments will further strengthen Platform E’s commitment to advancing Singapore’s entrepreneurship talent pool and scaling up of business ventures.
