Move beyond just clicks and likes, SIM - University of Southampton marketing graduates told

It was an afternoon to remember for the pioneer graduating cohort of students from the SIM - University of Southampton Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Marketing programme.

The ceremony saw 35 students presented with their degree scrolls with many family, friends and loved ones in attendance.

In his address Dr Lee Kwok Cheong, Chief Executive Officer at SIM Global Education said though the cohort was small, they would punch well above their weight in the future careers because of the knowledge and skills provided by the Southampton degree programme.

For the marketing industry, Dr Lee said that it is in a state of flux.

"It is also no longer about just clicks and likes. It is not about one-way selling of your products," Dr Lee said.

"It is about how you engage your audiences, and keep their attention and loyalty. It is how you build relationships and start conversations about what your customers care about."

In his Valedictorian address Mr Khairul Fahmi, a First Class honours recipient, asked graduates to reflect on how they would live their lives henceforth.

He noted that their 'piece of paper' represented more than just new opportunities and material advancement and was a chance for each graduate to discover their inner voice and use it to make a positive difference in the world.


Dr Lee congratulated students on being the first cohort to graduate from the SIM - University of Southampton partnership.
