The University of London (UOL) and SIM Global Education (SIM GE), launched the UOL-SIM Regional Centre on 5 April 2017.
The Regional Centre will focus on raising the profile of UOL-SIM programmes. It will also broaden and deepen collaboration with key partners as well as market development in Singapore and Southeast Asia. This includes working with regulatory bodies, government institutions and scholarship organisations.
Speaking at the launch of the Centre was SIM GE Chief Executive Officer Dr Lee Kwok Cheong who highlighted the 31-year strong partnership between SIM GE and UOL.
“At SIM, we have put in lots of resources to help our students, not only in academic endeavours but also in making sure that they develop as people and professionals, and we are going to bring this spirit to the regional centre,” he said.
UOL Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Adrian Smith said, “What we’re aiming to achieve first and foremost is providing a physical focus for our joint effort. Some 20% of our University of London international programme students worldwide are here in Singapore and around 85% of them are studying at SIM. So, this is the obvious place to locate our regional centre where we have these fantastic resources, well-established quality provision and the capacity and infrastructure for further outreach.”
Other notable guests at the event were the Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission in Singapore, Mr Jonathan Darby, the Chair of Trustees at UOL, Sir Richard Dearlove, and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) and Chief Executive of the UOL programmes, Dr Mary Stiasny.
Alumni, faculty and staff of UOL and SIM, associates from CPA Australia,
the RELC Examinations Bureau, the British Council and local institutes came together to celebrate the launch of the UOL-SIM Regional Centre.

This year, SIM GE welcomes the 31st intake for the UOL programmes and launched the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Management and Digital Innovation led by the London School of Economics. Last year, SIM-UOL also introduced a new Master of Science in Professional Accountancy, with academic direction from the University College London’s School of Management and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
