Dr Aaron Tan, Director, Teaching and Learning Division, SIM Global Education, conducting a workshop on Learning Oriented Teaching.
In attendance were educators from neighbouring Southeast Asian countries as well as those further afield such as China, India and Taiwan.
Here’s what participants had to say about the event:
“Singapore has one of the (world’s) leading education systems so coming here was something I was looking forward to. And indeed I learnt a lot. At the workshop by University at Buffalo Associate Dean, Dr Randy, he pointed out that teachers often focus on the ‘do’ while neglecting to ‘think’ about the progress of the education system or how we can further improve our teaching. It wasa good reminder.”
Yong Jen Na, Teacher at the
Lodge International School (Malaysia)
“As Head of School, I need to
guide the students using new educational methodologies and approaches. I think my
learning from this conference will benefit my students as well as my teachers. Incidentally,
half of the students from my school go abroad eventually. Right now we have about
ten students studying in SIM, so I wanted to come and ‘experience’ it first-hand
for myself. From what I see the programmes are very innovative and complete.”

Dinh Thien Ly Sec - High School (Lawrence S. Ting School, Vietnam)
